- A Message From Ralph Scurci, the Mannitto PGA Professional
- I started playing golf when I was 10 years old and at 14 I won my first junior tournament at Mt. Odin Park Golf Course in Greensburg Pa. By 16 years old I had won the Mt. Odin Junior for the 3rd time. I also won the Jeannette, Greensburg, and Pittsburgh Jaycee Tournaments. I went to the state high school golf tournament at Penn State in 1956 and 1957 where I finished fourth and fifth two straight years.
When I turned Pro in 1957, I went to work at Mt. Odin Park as an Assistant Pro under Joe DelVecchio. In 1960 I worked as an Assistant Pro at Lincoln Hills Country Club. That fall I went to Pasadena, California to work at Griffith Park Golf Course in Los Angeles. In 1965 work took me to Chevy Chase Country Club in Glendale, California. I returned to Pennsylvania in 1972 and regained my amateur status.
I have won three Club Championships at Mt. Odin and Valley Green Golf Club. I have the course records at the Sheraton Golf Course (59), Valley Green Golf Course (64), Mannitto Golf Course (66), and have shot two 62's at Mt. Odin. I have also won three Westmoreland County Senior Amateur Championships.
The most memorable highlights of my golfing career came in 1954 when I caddied for Ben Hogan and Sam Snead at Lincoln Hills in a Celebrity Tournament and in 1959 when I played with Arnold Palmer.
I now play most of my golf at Mannitto Golf Course. Mannitto is one of the most demanding courses in the area. It offers a wide variety of risk/ reward holes with shot-making a premium. The course is in excellent condition. I am sure you will enjoy the challenge Mannitto will present no matter what your skill level is.

- Starting from an early age, I have taken an interest in the golf course industry. My introduction to golf course maintenance practices came through many visits with my grandfather, David Liprando, to courses owned and operated by my uncle, Greg Liprando.
By the age of 13, I was working part-time at Irwin Country Club and at 16 years of age, I worked part-time at Westmoreland Country Club. After graduation from Franklin Regional High School and with the encouragement of staff from Westmoreland Country Club, I enrolled in the Turfgrass Management program at Penn State University. I graduated from Penn State in February, 1983.
My career highlights have included the following accomplishments:
